Legal // legible terms, no traps
Terms & Conditions.
The rules for using this website, written to be understood rather than survived. Governed by the law of England & Wales.
Agreement
By using softerror.xyz (the "site") you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. That is the whole deal — there is no clause that binds you by scrolling.
Who we are
The site is operated by Soft Error ("Soft Error", "we", "us"), an independent software studio. Contact: hello@softerror.xyz. Registered details: Soft Error, [registered address — to be added].
Using the site
You may read, link to and share this site freely. You agree not to:
- use it unlawfully, or in a way that could damage or disrupt it;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it or its hosting;
- scrape or reuse content at a scale that harms the service or misrepresents its source.
Linking to us is welcome. Passing our work off as your own is not.
Our content and intellectual property
The content on this site — text, design, the wordmark and other brand assets, and the code that renders it — belongs to Soft Error or its licensors, unless stated otherwise. You may quote short extracts with attribution. You may not reproduce the branding or substantial portions of the content as if they were yours. Our products and any open-source repositories are governed by their own licences, which take precedence for those materials.
Products and client work
This site describes our products and, in the lab notes, anonymised examples of client work. Nothing here is an offer or a binding quote. Any product you download or use is governed by its own terms and licence. Any paid engagement is governed by a separate written agreement between us and the client, which prevails over these terms for that work.
Links to other sites
Where we link out, we do not control those sites and are not responsible for them. A link is not an endorsement, and following one is at your own discretion.
No warranty
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it accurate and online, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the information is complete or current. Nothing on it is professional advice you should rely on without checking.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of (or inability to use) this site, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Privacy
How we handle data is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the current version, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England & Wales, and the courts of England & Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, subject to any mandatory rights you have under the law of your own country of residence.
